FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A 2-1 road loss Saturday to Potsdam left Fredonia men's soccer needing all sorts of help to get into the six-team SUNYAC Tournament field.
At home next Friday vs. Oneonta and next Saturday vs. New Paltz, the Blue Devils will need to win both games and have four teams ahead of them trip up.
All the scoring came in the first half.
Ryan Keller (East Aurora, N.Y.) scored Fredonia's lone goal. It came in the 33rd minute -- and knotted the score 1-1 -- on a cross into the box from
Parker Healy (East Aurora, N.Y.). It was Keller's third goal of the weekend -- he had both scores in Friday's 2-2 tie at Plattsburgh State -- and his third of the season.
Brandon Laurin's goal in the 18th minute put Potsdam on top 1-0. After Keller scored, Jorge Ferran broke the 1-1 tie in the 38th minute.
Potsdam had a 16-13 advantage in shots while Fredonia was up in corner kicks, 7-2. Blue Devil goalkeeper
Jeremy Bari (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) made seven saves to six by Potsdam's Jesse Kohler.
The loss dropped Fredonia to 1-4-2 in the conference and 2-10-3 overall. Potsdam improved to 3-3-1 SUNYAC, 9-5-1 overall.
