FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia women's basketball team dropped a 66-53 decision to Oneonta on Saturday.
Jamie Curry (Ransomeville, N.Y. / Wilson) led the Devils with 11 points, while
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) chipped in seven points and nine rebounds.
Alexis Cheatham (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) and
Jacque Law (Machias, N.Y. / Pioneer) had nine points apiece, while Cheatham had four assists.
Leading by one point, 16-15, halfway through the first half, Oneonta ran off nine straight points. The Devils answered with a 10-4 run to keep the game close at 29-25.
From that point, Oneonta then took control of the game, scoring the final eight points of the first half, and first four points of the second half for a 41-25 lead. From there, the lead never fell below 10 the rest of the game.
Fredonia shot 90 percent (18 of 20) from line, but converted only 26 percent (16 of 61) from the field. The team did a great job of ball control, committing only five turnovers compared to 12 by Oneonta.
Oneonta (10-5, 5-3) was led by Lyteshia Price with 18 points and Caysea Cohen with 16 .
Fredonia (6-10, 3-7 SUNYAC) travels to Potsdam and Plattsburgh next weekend.
