ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia swept the diving events and had multiple individual winners up and down the lineup Friday night as both swimming and diving teams defeated Nazareth. It was the first-ever win by the Fredonia women over Nazareth.
On the women's side, diver
Meghan Bartlett won both boards -- 263.30 points in the 1-meter, 254.65 in the 3-meter -- while
Samantha Kowalewski was runner-up twice.
Double individual winning swimmers were
Stephanie Rosa in the 100-meter backstroke and the 200-meter backstroke,
Larissa Dobson in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter breaststroke, and
Sam Rokos in the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley.
Single winners were
Ellie Brion in the 100-meter freestyle and
Rachel Morgano in the 100-meter butterly. Rosa, Dobson, Morgano, and Brion combined to win the 200-meter medley relay. Brion, Dobson, Morgano, and Rokos combined to win the 200-meter freestlyle relay.
The Blue Devils won 169-125.
For the men,
Will Baker touched first three times individually and once more as part of a winning relay. Baker's solo wins came in the 200-meter freestyle, the 50-meter freestyle, and the 100-meter freestyle. He was part of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay.
Jake Hewitt was also a triple individual winner, with victories in the 800-meter freestyle, the 200-meter butterfly, and the 100-meter butterfly.
Double winners were
Adam Clouthier in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter breaststroke, and diver
Arron Carlson in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
Fredonia's lone single winner was
Graham Jones in the 400-meter freestyle.
In addition to Baker, winning 200-meter freestyle relay participants were Bill Bradley,
Matthew Travers, and
Justin Hawes.
The final score was Fredonia 190, Nazareth 109.
