FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Returning to competition after a month-long break, the Fredonia men's swimming and diving team had several top performances Saturday at the Steele Hall Natatorium, including two double-winners.
The Blue Devils fell to the Wolverines, 171-126.
Arron Carlson (LeRoy, N.Y. / Notre Dame) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with zone qualifying scores of 289.65 and 320.95, respectively.
Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y. / Middletown) took second in both events. Santiago's 1-meter score of 289.55 was also a zone qualifier. Jake Storms (Owego, N.Y. / Owego) had a personal-record on the 1-meter board of 245.70, while
Jordan Giordano (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport ) had personal-bests on both boards with scores of 215.55 and 229.65, respectively.
Adam Clouthier (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) was Fredonia's other double-winner with victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.82) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.68),Â
Jake Hewitt (Duanesburg, N.Y. / Schalmont) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:01.87 and finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle at 10:32.77. Other first-place finishers were
Troy Lubanski (Leicester, N.Y. / York) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.92), and
Will Baker (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) in the 100-yard freestyle (49.73).
The team will travel to Rochester next Friday to take on the Golden Flyers of Nazareth.
