Devils unable to erase large deficit

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Fredonia staged a mild second-half comeback before falling Friday to Oswego, 71-58, in SUNYAC women's basketball.

The Blue Devils, which led only once in the game, 1-0, trailed by 17 points midway through the second half before rallying to win four points, 56-52, on a layup by junior Katie Devine (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence).

The Lakers regained command by outscoring the Blue Devils 15-6 over the final nine minutes.

Jamie Curry (Ramsomville, N.Y./Wilson), a sophomore, led the Blue Devils with 17 points. Junior forward Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) had 12 points and freshman Jacque Law (Machias, N.Y./Pioneer) added 10.

Alisha Jacobs led Oswego with 23 points. The Lakers improved to 2-3 overall, 1-0 SUNYAC.

The Blue Devils fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the SUNYAC heading into a conference game Saturday at Cortland.
