FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Elmira rolled over Fredonia, 7-2, in non-conference men's hockey Tuesday night.

Andrew Ciampichini (Innisfil,, Ont.) had two goals and one assist for the Soaring Eagles, who improved to 3-4-1 and ended a three-game losing streak. The Blue Devils fell to 1-3-3.

Greg Whittle (Owen Sound, Ont.), Tommy Sumi (Whitby, Ont.), Eric David (Dorval, Que.), Alexander Taulien (Crystal Lake, Ill.), and Tyler Theodoulou (Bedford, N.H.) each had one goal for Elmira. Carter Shinkaruk (Langly, B.C.) had two assists.

Sophomore forward Marcus Ortiz (Richardson, Texas) and freshman defenseman Jamie Young (Russell, Ohio) had the Blue Devil goals. The goal by Ortiz, his first of the season, forged a 1-1 tie at 14:58 of the first period. Young's tally, his first as a collegian, came midway through the third period with the Blue Devils trailing 6-1.

Despite the loss, the Blue Devils had wide margins in shots on goal (45-38) and faceoffs won (43-20).

Elmira goaltender Sal Magliocco (Roslyn, N.Y.) made 43 saves. Fredonia sophomore Christopher Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) was credited with 31 stops.

The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC competition at Geneseo on Friday night and at Brockport on Saturday night.
