FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The men's swimming and diving team had several top finishers in Saturday's home meet against Canisius.
The Blue Devils fell to the Golden Griffins, 204-86.
Jake Hewitt (Duanesburg, N.Y. / Schalmont) was the top finisher in two events: the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.74) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.40). He also finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.
Will Baker (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.89.
The Blue Devils took both first and second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The first-place team consisted of
William Bradley (Dunkirk, N.Y. / Dunkirk), Matt Travers (Port Jervis, N.Y. / Schalmont), Grahm Jones (Tonawanda, N.Y. / Kenmore East), and Mike Craven (Hyde Park, N.Y. / F.D.R.), while the second place team was made up by
Arron Carlson (LeRoy, N.Y. / Notre Dame), Jake Storms (Owego, N.Y. / Owego),
Jeff Matter (East Aurora, N.Y. / East Aurora), and
Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y. / Middletown).
In the diving events, the top Blue Devil finisher was
Jeff Matter (East Aurora, N.Y. / East Aurora?, finishing second on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.
The Blue Devils will be off for the holdiay break, returning to Steele Hall on January 17th to host Grove City.
