FREDONIA, N.Y. -- After an unscheduled two-week hiatus in the schedule, the Fredonia men's hockey team returns to the ice Tuesday night when it entertains the Elmira Soaring Eagles inside the Steele Hall Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils' most recent game was Nov. 15 at Plattsburgh. They were supposed to play the Buffalo State Bengals at home on Nov. 21, only to have the game postponed due to heavy snow in the Western New York region. That game has been rescheduled for Feb. 14.
"After not playing a game in what seems like months," Blue Devil head coach
Jeff Meredith said, "it will be good to get back into game action. I think our practices have been crisp and detailed and (we) look forward to seeing Elmira."
Fredonia's early season has been a case of 1-2-3 -- one win, two losses, and three ties -- while Elmira brings a 2-4-1 record into Tuesday's game. The Soaring Eagles have lost their last three games, including a 2-1 loss Sunday to No. 3 ranked Babson.
"Elmira is very talented," Meredith said, "so taking care of the puck in the neutral zone will be key as will being disciplined and not taking penalties. Elmira traditionally has a very potent power play."
The teams split a pair of games last season, each winning on its home ice.
