CANTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's hockey team used three second-period goals to claim a 3-2 victory at Canton on Saturday.
Frankie Hart (Timmons, Ont),
John DeFeo (Glen Head, N.Y.) and
Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta) all found the back of the net for the Devils.
After a scoreless first frame, Canton struck first, scoring 1:22 into the second period.
The Devils answered at the 2:46 mark with Hart's second goal in as many days.
Marcus Andersson (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) and
Matt Cessna (Plainfield, Ill.) assisted.
Four minutes later, DeFeo gave the Devils thier first lead of the weekend with helpers from Anderson and
Cory Melkert (North Bay, Ont).
At the 7:46 mark, Bourne scored the Devils' third goal in a five-minute span. The power-play score was assisted by
Ryan Wilkinson (Calgary, Alberta) and
Stephen Castriota (Bellport, N.Y.).
Canton (0-2-1) made a game of it, scoring in the first minute of the third period on a power play of their own.
Christopher Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) made 29 save for Fredonia in earning the win. Spencer Landry had 28 in defeat for the Kangaroos.
The Devils (1-1-2) are back on the road next weekend when they travel to Potsdam and Plattsburgh to resume SUNYAC play.
NOTE: Last night's story had the goaltenders for Fredonia transposed.
Christopher Eiserman finished the game with 17 saves in a scoreless 39:15.
Jeff Flagler played the first 25:43 in goal, surrendering four goals while making 10 saves.
