BOXSCORE CANTON, N.Y. -- Down 4-3 with less than a minute remaining, a power-play goal by Fredonia's
Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta) completed a wild comeback as the Devils skated to a 4-all tie with the SUNY Canton Kangaroos on Friday evening.
Canton (0-1-1) had built a 4-0 lead just over five minutes into the second period. They scored twice in the first period -- both power-play scores -- and two more times early in the second.
The Devils (0-1-2) would not find the net until the 18:25 mark late in the second period.
Frankie Hart (Timmons, Ont.) connected for the Devils' first goal of the game and his first score of the season with help from
Matt Cessna (Plainfield, Ill.) and
Hunter Long (Lebanon, Tenn.).
The Devils used that momentum for a pair of quick scores in the third period.
Stephen Castriota (Bellport, N.Y.) connected on a power play 2:51 into the third. Thirty-eight seconds later Long made it a 4-3 game on an unassisted score. Castriota's score was his second, while Long scored his first of the year.
The Devils' final score by Bourne came with only 53 seconds left in regulation.
Fredonia outshot Canton 50-31. Both teams converted a pair of power plays.
Ryan Wilkinson (Calgary, Alberta) assisted on the game-tieing score, Bourne's second score of the year.
Fredonia's
Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, Ont.) played the first 25:43 in goal, surrendering all four scores while making 10 saves. He was relieved by
Christopher Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) who made 17 saves in the final 39:15.
Spencer Laundry made 46 saves for Canton.
Both teams meet again tomorrow afternoon for a 3 p.m. start.
