Helps named SUNYAC Player of the Week

BOXSCORE FREDONIA N.Y.-- Fredonia freshman Ian Helps (Bronx, N.Y./Greater New York Academy) was honored by the SUNYAC as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday following his first week of collegiate action.

Helps Averaged 22.5 points and 14.0 rebounds in his first two collegiate games. The Blue Devils came away with one win and one loss at Allegheny College's Richards '08 Memorial Tip-Off Tournament. He had 22 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks in the consolation game against Pitt.-Titusville, a 75-50 win.

In the season opening-loss to SUNY Canton, he had 22 points and nine boards.

Overall, the 6'5'' forward shot 18 of 32 (56 percent) from the field, and connected on his only three-point attempt.

The Blue Devils take on Medaille College this Friday in Buffalo. The game is set to tip off at 4:30 p.m.
