Oswego flexes nationally ranked muscle

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Nationally ranked Oswego rolled to a 10-2 SUNYAC men's hockey win Saturday over Fredonia at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

Krystian Yorke had five points -- one goal and four assists -- and a plus-7 rating to lead the Lakers, ranked No. 3 in the USCHO.com NCAA Division III preseason poll.

Shawn Hulshof, Alex Botten, and Mitchell Herlihey had two goals each. Herlihey and Stephen Johnson each had a plus-6 rating.

Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta) and Brian Doust (Calgary, Alberta) scored the Fredonia goals, Bourne at the end of the first period and Doust early in the second.

Doust's goal cut the Oswego lead to 3-2. The Lakers closed out the game with seven straight goals.

The Lakers outshot the Blue Devils, 48-29.

The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 0-1-1 after the opening weekend of the season. The Lakers improved to 2-0.

Next up for Fredonia are road games next Friday and Saturday at SUNY Canton.
