BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia Blue Devil women's tennis season ended Saturday morning with a 5-0 loss to Brockport in the consolation round of the SUNYAC Tournament at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
The Blue Devils dropped close No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and were leading at No. 6 singles when Brockport earned its deciding fifth point, which brought an end to the match. Fredonia ended its season with a 5-8 record.
Stephanie Thompson (Verona, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) and Samantha Pednault (East Moriches, N.Y. / Sachem North) were defeated 9-7 at No. 1 doubles, while
Halee Dickinson (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and
Chloe Cohen (West Hempstead, N.Y. / West Hempstead) were edged 9-8 (7-3 tiebreaker) in their No. 2 doubles match.
Phoebe Langdon (Syracuse, N.Y. / Westhill) was up 6-3, 3-2 at No. 6 singles when the match was terminated.
It marked the final collegiate match for two Blue Devil seniors -- Thompson and
Emily Fulkerson (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse Academy). In addition,
Jenna Fiacco (Verona, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) is an outgoing senior. Fiacco is also a member of the Blue Devil women's track & field team.
