Mary Bartkowski, a Fredonia State Blue Devil Hall of Famer, joins the coaching staff in January of 2025. Bartkowski was a teammate of head coach Sherry Nowatzki during their playing days in Fredonia. A 1989 graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/Math, she later added a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.
Bartkowski played two seasons of women's basketball at Fredonia State after transferring from Jamestown Community College. A two-year starter with the Blue Devils, Bartkowski averaged 10.2 points per game as a junior and was named Fredonia State's Agnes L. Michaels Award winner as Fredonia State's Female Athlete of the Year.
As a senior, she led her team with 72 assists and 52 steals. That season she scored 11.2 points-per-game while finishing among the SUNYAC's Top 5 in assists and three-point field-goal accuracy. She was named First Team All SUNYACÂ and repeated as winner of the Michaels Award winner.
Bartkowski was a head coach at the High School level and was named Coach of the Year after the 1995-96 season at Maple Grove after posting 18-5 record.
