Gabby Kotas joins the women's lacrosse coaching staff prior for the 2015 season.
She comes to Fredonia after a successful playing career at Canisius College. A three-year starter on defense for the Golden Griffins, Kotas was named All-MAAC Second Team as a sophomore in 2012 and All-MAAC First Team as a senior in 2014. She was selected to play in the 2014 IWCLA DeBeer North/South Senior All-Star Game. In her four seasons, she collected 95 ground balls, 18 draw controls, and caused 41 turnovers. During that time, the Golden Griffins were MAAC Champions each year, advancing to the NCAA tournament three times. Kotas graduated from Canisius in 2014 with a B.A. in English.
She is currently a head coach and director at Lancaster Lady Monsters Lacrosse travel team and the middle and modified levels (grades 2-8). Prior to attending college, Kotas was a standout lacrosse player at Lancaster High School, leading the team to the 2008 New York State Public High School semifinals. She was a two-time All-Western New York player.
She comes from a lacrosse playing family. Her twin sister, Maria, was a high school and college teammate. Her younger sister, Juliana, is a current member of the Fredonia Blue Devil women's team.
