Reid Lesswing 2018-19

Reid Lesswing

Reid Lesswing joined the Fredonia men's hockey coaching staff prior to the start of the 2018-19 season after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Casteton University, his alma mater.

Lesswing appeared in 98 games over his four seasons at Castleton. The Buffalo, N.Y., native registered two goals and 13 assists while helping lead the program to new heights. As a freshman, Lesswing played in 23 games for a team that was ranked as high as third nationally and finished with a 22-4-1 record. His teams reached at least the East Coast Athletic Conference East semifinals in all four seasons, highlighted by a ECAC championship appearance in 2012. 

Lesswing was named team captain prior to his senior season in 2014 in which the Spartans finished 13-11-3 on the campaign. 

He played professionally with the Tulsa Oilers of the East Coast Hockey League and with the Louisiana Ice Gators of the Southern Professional Hockey League. He spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Castleton while earning a master's degree in Athletic Administration. He also has a bachelor's degree in Business with a minor in Computer Information Systems. He was a three-time ECAC all-academic team member.

He has also served as an assistant coach for the South African Men's National Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation Division 3 Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has worked several summer hockey camps in New England and New York.
