Key runs carry Devils over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Fredonia State moved to 2–0 on Saturday with a 3–1 road win at Nazareth, taking control of each winning set through extended scoring bursts and strong production from its veteran core.

The Blue Devils flipped the opening frame with a nine‑point run to 15–11, fueled by three straight aces from Megan Nottis and multiple blocks from Donnilynn Sheldon, and closed out a 25–22 win.

Nazareth answered in the second, but Fredonia regained momentum in the third. A pair of mid‑set pushes — first to 17–13, then to 21–15 — came behind kills from Logann Lexner, Sheldon, and Bella Maloney, plus aces from Sasha Zayatz and Payton Stoddard, leading to a 25–20 victory.

Fredonia delivered its strongest stretch in the fourth. Maeve Musielak opened the set with three aces and two kills, driving the Blue Devils to a 9–4 lead. A later run to 17–12, highlighted by Nottis ace and kills from Musielak and Maloney, set up a 25–19 match‑clinching finish.

Musielak and Kylie O'Brien each posted 11 kills, while Sheldon added 8 kills and 4 blocks. Cassidy paced the offense with 23 assists, and Nottis anchored the back row with 18 digs and 5 aces. Fredonia finished with 14 aces and 59 digs.

The Blue Devils return home Wednesday at 6 PM to host Hilbert in their 2026 home opener.
