HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Fredonia State earned a 2–1 road win at Houghton on Wednesday night, powered by two first‑half goals and a composed defensive effort that delivered freshman goalkeeper Allyssa Hatch her first collegiate victory.
Fredonia State struck first at 15:00, when Gabby Irwin finished low inside the right post after sustained pressure in the attacking third. The Blue Devils doubled the lead six minutes later at 20:21, with Bronwyn Madden converting a penalty to make it 2–0. Fredonia State controlled the opening half, generating repeated attacking‑third throw‑ins and forcing Houghton into early substitutions.
Houghton pulled one back early in the second half, but Fredonia State responded with its strongest defensive stretch of the match. Kacey Mosher nearly restored the two‑goal margin at 55:43, striking the crossbar before Fredonia State earned a corner at 55:37. Additional chances followed from Madden, Anna Ratchuk, and Avery Aloi, each forcing saves or creating pressure inside the box.
Houghton pushed late, earning corners at 63:39, 65:28, 86:11, and 88:29, but Fredonia State's back line — including Emma Stahl, Makayla Stainbrook, and Layla McLean — cleared each attempt.
In goal, Hatch played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves, including a key stop at 61:38 on a low shot. Her steady presence preserved the 2–1 final and secured her first collegiate win.
