FREDONIA, N.Y. — Bronwyn Madden snapped a scoreless tie early in the second half and Alyssa Hatch made eight saves, but the Fredonia State women's soccer team surrendered two late goals in a 2-1 loss to RIT on Tuesday afternoon at University Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Fredonia broke through in the 51st minute when Madden scored her third goal of the season to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 advantage. Just over two minutes later, Hatch preserved the lead by stopping an RIT penalty kick.
The Tigers continued to press offensively, outshooting Fredonia 22-13 and holding an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
RIT finally found the equalizer in the 82nd minute when Elliot McSkimin scored to make it 1-1. The Tigers then struck again with just 19 seconds remaining in regulation as Valeria Luzio converted a feed from Sarah Tawaf for the game-winning goal.
