FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The NCAA Division III Niagara Regional cross country meet is returning to Fredonia State in 2026.
Last held here in 2024, the Niagara Regional will be held Sat., Nov. 14 on the campus course -- measured out at 6,000 meters for the women and 8,000 meters for the men. Upwards of 300 runners from 30 or more teams are scheduled to participate.
The top teams and runners will be attempting to qualify for the NCAA Division III championship meet Nov. 21 at Carleton College on the Bill Huyck Championship Cross Country Course in Northfield, Minn.
"Hosting the regional event for the second time in three years," Fredonia State Head Coach
Tom Wilson said, "is a great way to showcase our campus, community, and athletic department. With teams ranging from Buffalo to NYC, the Niagara Region has upwards of 38 colleges as members. When we can host an athletic event with close to 300 athletes involved it brings a lot of attention to the area."
The Blue Devils will prep for the regional, as well as the SUNYAC meet Oct. 31 at Oneonta, with five other meets, starting Sept. 5 at Brockport. Meets at the University of Rochester and Roberts Wesleyan precede Fredonia State's Kara Hall Memorial, held in memory of a former Blue Devil runner. That meet is Fri., Oct. 2.
A trip to Geneseo on Oct. 16 is also slated as a final tune-up for the SUNYAC meet.
