Casey Fetzner finished third in the discus and
Emma Gassman was fifth in the 200 meters as the Fredonia State women opened their 2026 outdoor track and field season at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.
Competing for the first time as a collegian in her specialty, Fetzner flung the discus 38.56 meters -- 126 feet, 6 inches -- to qualify for the NCAA Division III regional meet later this spring. She was third among 27 women entered in Saturday's competition. In addition, she was 11th of 30 in the javelin, which was held Friday night, with a throw of 27.88 meters.
In the 200 meters, Gassman was fifth of 46 women with a clocking of 25.83 seconds. She was also 12th and Cara Pellichia 15th in the 100 meters with times of 12.95 and 12.98 seconds, respectively. There were 43 women in the event.
