BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State had one individual winner and one relay winner Sunday at the Brockport Multi & Invitational Track and Field meet.
Emily Frank and
Calie Hudson finished one-two in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Frank won the event in 12:07.39 while Hudson came in at 12:18 in a race which saw them lead wire-to-wire, first and second at every split.Â
Fredonia State won the 4 x 100 relay with the quartet of
Brayton Tripi,
Emma Gassman,
Emily Cardinale, and
Cara Pellechia with a time of 49.72 seconds, good enough to qualify for the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference meet later in the spring.Â
Gassman also finished third in the 400 meters in an AARTFC-qualifying 58.20 seconds. A freshman, Gassman finished behind two upperclassmen, and later combined with
Hazel Bache,
Allison Bartoszek, and
Siera Shenoy to finish third in the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 4:13.40.Â
In hurdling events, Bache and
Lexi Sheen each won a heat. Bache finished second overall in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:08.75. Sheen finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.83 seconds. She was also 10th in the 400-meter event.
Also, Shenoy ran an opening split of 1:12.18 en route a final time of 2:27.60, good for sixth in the 800 meters. She finished third in her heat.
Fredonia State's top finisher in field events was
Yauvani Liddelow, who was third out of 17 women with a mark of 10.93 meters (35 feet, 10 inches) on her first jump. She showed consistency with two other jumps over 32 feet.
On her first throw in the discus,
Casey Fetzner cleared 39.44 meters (129 feet, 5 inches) to finish fourth overall in a field of 36 finishers. In addition, she was eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 33.80 meters (110 feet, 11 inches) on her first attempt.
