Fredonia State shut out in Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State baseball dropped both games of a SUNYAC doubleheader at Cortland, with each contest ending in a 10-0 final.

Game One: 
Fredonia State was held to four hits in the opener. Cortland did their damage across the middle innings, scoring in the second and third before breaking the game open with a six-run fourth inning.  

Nick Vitelli, Ryan Mettler, Noah Panek, and Vito Verni each recorded a hit while Cortland's offense was led by Joe Yovino, who drove in three runs for the Red Dragons. Joshua Martos took the loss (0-1), while Dan Collins improved to 3-1 with the win.

Game Two: 
Cortland struck early in game two with a two-run home run from Tristan Gatchalian in the first inning, then erupted for seven runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI triple off the bat of JJ DeLawder. 

Fredonia State managed two hits, with Brayden Willats recording a extra-base hit. Gatchalian led Cortland with a standout performance, finishing with the home run and four RBIs.

Michael Gangloff took the loss (0-2), while Ryan McLaughlin improved to 5-1 with the win.

Fredonia State continues its road stretch with a non-conference game against Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pa., with first pitch scheduled for a 4 p.m.
