NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Fredonia State dropped a SUNYAC matchup on the road Saturday, falling 12-4 to New Paltz. The Devils kept things competitive early, but a strong second-quarter surge from New Paltz was to much for Fredonia State to overcome.

Fredonia State cut into the deficit early in the second quarter when
Gabby Lewinski finished a feed from
Amelia LeFevre, making it 3-2. New Paltz, however, built separation with a series of goals in the middle of the quarter. Fredonia State got one back in the closing seconds of the half when
Piper Evangelist buried a free-position shot, sending the Devils into halftime trailing 8-3.
The third quarter saw the Hawks extend their lead with four more goals while holding Fredonia State scoreless. The Devils final tally came in the fourth quarter when
Katie O'Brien found the back of the net unassisted to cap the scoring at 12-4.
In goal, Jessica Kowalski turned in a busy performance for Fredonia State, making 12 saves while facing 30 shots. On the other side, New Paltz split time in net. Piper Mascaros got the start allowing three goals in the first half, while Gabriella Tommaso came on in relief and recorded six saves to help secure the win.
With the loss, Fredonia State moves to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in SUNYAC play. The Devils will look to bounce back on Saturday, April 3rd at 4:00 p.m. when they travel for another SUNYAC matchup against Canton.
