WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Fredonia State ran into two potent lineups on its second day in Florida, falling 17–0 to nationally ranked Rowan in the morning game and 19–9 to Wisconsin–Platteville in the afternoon at the Diamondplex complex..
Game 1 — Rowan 17, Fredonia 0 (5 inn.)
The opener tilted quickly as Rowan struck for 10 runs in the first, capitalizing on eight hits and two Blue Devil errors. Fredonia actually created early traffic — Madison DeVore, Madison Lowe, and Avery Hill all walked to load the bases in the top of the first — but Rowan escaped and seized momentum immediately.
Brooke Caldwell produced Fredonia's lone hit, a third‑inning double to left. DeVore reached base twice on walks, while Hill, Lowe, and Kirsten Lajewski each put balls in play but couldn't break through against Rowan's pitching tandem.
Three Blue Devil pitchers — Sabrina Edwards‑Smith, Phoenix Thomas, and Cayzlee Johnson — combined for the five innings.
Rowan, ranked No. 20 in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Division III poll, added six more in the third and one in the fourth to close out the run‑rule win.
Game 2 — Wisconsin–Platteville 19, Fredonia 9
Fredonia's offense roared back to life in the afternoon, answering Platteville's five‑run first with four of its own. DeVore again ignited the inning — drawing a walk and then scoring on the front end of a double‑steal, with Edwards taking second on the play. Moments later, Avery Hill dropped a two‑run double to right, and a Platteville misplay allowed Hill to score, trimming the deficit to 5–4 after one.
The Blue Devils kept grinding. DeVore doubled home a run in the fourth, and the sixth inning produced a surge: Chloe Whittingham singled, Sophie Reed walked, and DeVore walked again to load the bases. Caldwell's sacrifice fly brought in one, and Madison Lowe drilled a two‑run triple to right center to make it 12–8.
Platteville, however, continued to stack innings, scoring in six of seven frames and using a seven‑run seventh to pull away.
Whittingham finished 2‑for‑4 with a double, Lowe drove in three, and DeVore reached base four times while stealing her fourth base of the game.
