GENEVA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State hockey team drew one of the toughest tickets in all of Division III in its quarterfinal SUNYAC Tournament game at Hobart on Wednesday. The Statesmen -- defending National Champs, current No. 1 in the polls, and undefeated in now 66-straight home games -- claimed a 3-0 win over the Blue Devils.
Senior goaltender
Charles-Anthony Barbeau did his best to keep the Devils in the game. He turned away 55 of 58 shots (.948 save percentage). By comparison, Hobart's Mavrik Goyer needed 19 shots to earn the shutout.
Hobart (26-0-0) got goals from Bauer Morrissey in the first period, and Chris Duclair and Nick Dimatos in the third.
The Devils made it interesting for a while. They limited the potent Hobart offense to one goal in the first, and shut them out in the second. Barbeau made 21 saves in the second.
It wasn't until eight minutes into the third that the Statesmen got their second goal.
Their third-and-final goal came on a power play. They went 1-3 on power plays, while the Devils went 0-3.
The Devils wrap up their season with a 4-21-1 record.
