BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday at Buffalo State. They took down Geneseo 3-2, then fell to Alfred State 3-1.
In the first match the Devils battled through five sets to earn the victory.
Kylie O'Brien and Maeve Musilak paced the attack with 12 kills apiece, while
Emma Foley and Donnilynne Sheldon each added eight. Junior setter
Molly Cassidy delivered 19 assists in the match and reached a career milestone by recording her 1,000th career assist. Cassidy also led with three service aces.
Geneseo was led by Kathryn Barba, who tallied a match-high 17 kills. Ayla Pascal and Sophie Hunter chipped in seven kills each to keep the Knights within striking distance.
In the second match of the day, Fredonia fell 3-1 to Alfred State. Sheldon and Logann Lexner led the Blue Devils with six kills apiece, while Megan Nottis added two aces. Alfred State was powered by Gloria Stem, who had a game-high 14 kills, and Gabriella Thurmond, who dished out 38 assists.
With the split, the Blue Devils move to 3-9 on the season. They return to action Tuesday at Hilbert College.
