CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State Men's Track & Field delivered a strong showing at the 2025 SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by SUNY Cortland, finishing sixth overall with 58 team points in a tightly contested field. Host Cortland claimed the championship with 246.5 points, followed by PSU Behrend (138), Oneonta (113), Plattsburgh  (71), Delhi (69.5) then Fredonia State. "Despite the poor weather conditions, our team stayed focused and produced some very strong performances throughout the weekend", noted Head Coach Tom Wilson. "We had several personal best performances and this young team continued to battle for every point possible. 

Leading the way for the Devils was junior Cameron Sample, who captured a gold medal in the long jump, soaring 7.23 meters to outdistance the field. Sample also contributed to the men's 4X100 meter relay team, which earned a silver medal. He was joined by freshmen Camieron Collins, sophomore Aiden VanAmburg and senior Nick Marsowicz , as the Devils clocked in at 3:19.96 seconds for second place.

Other medalists for Fredonia State included:

Stephen Hallberg, who earned bronze in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:43.91.

Quillen Shimp, who grabbed bronze in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 57.10 seconds.

Jacob Futch, who earned bronze in the pole vault, clearing 4.10m. 

Beyond the medalists, several Devils delivered strong finishes which include:

Senior Sembel Koshi took 6th in the 400m dash (4:10.30), while sophomore Blake Hageman and junior Alastair Sweeney tied for fifth place in the pole vault with a vault of 3.65m. 

Freshmen Edward Jourden earned a 7th place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:06.40 and freshmen Lucas Peterson-Volz placed 11th in the 3000 steeple chase with a time of 10:37.61 as well.
