ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's tennis team returned to action against a strong Nazareth College squad on Saturday afternoon, ultimately falling by a 0-7 score in the non-conference matchup.
In doubles action, the Devils battled hard but couldn't break through. At No. 1 doubles,  Bernadette Gens and Lucy Prevet faced off against a duo of Kenna Ellis and Catherine Zak and fell 1-6. The second and third doubles pairing Sophia Olson/Claire LeFevre and Gabrielle Farr/Adeliz Gottinger, both came up short with 3-6 and 1-6 results.
In singles play, Gens and Prevet each took on top-line opponents. Gens fell at No. 1 singles in straight sets to Zak 1-6, 0-6, while Prevet engaged in the match of the day at No. 2 singles. She pushed her opponent, Ellis, to three sets in a tightly contested battle 6-7, 7-6, 2-6.Â
Elsewhere in the lineup, Farr dropped a 1-6, 2-6 match at No. 3 singles, LeFevre fell 3-6, 3-6 at No. 4, and Olson fought at No. 5 before falling 0-6, 2-6.
The Devils now travel to face Brockport on Friday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m.Â
