DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Junior transfer
Shane Pray hit a three run homerun in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off, 10-7 win over Ohio Wesleyan in the Devils' first game of spring training on Saturday. Pray would strike again in the second game, plating the winning run in the bottom of the tenth on an error by the third baseman for his second walk off of the day as the Devils took a 7-6 victory over Gwynedd Mercy.
The pitching standout was sophomore
Connor Burkestone, who went 5 1/3 innings of relief, striking out nine in picking up the win vs. Gwynned Mercy.
Joe Tobia (2-0) vultured the win in the first game, going one inning and was the beneficiary of Pray's blast.
The Devils improved to 4-0 with a 7-4 win over Rurgers Newark in the morning game on Sunday.
Michael Byrns took the win on the mound, going six innings, and giving up two runs, with just one earned. Byrns struck out five, walked three, and scattered four hits.
Vincent Giuliano threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up a save in his first college appearance. Christain Cabrera had a three-hit game for the Devil, including a triple and a double.
The nightcap on Sunday proved to be a wild one, with the Devils dropping a 21-14 game to Clarkson. Cabrera again had three hits -- the fourth game in a row -- including his first homerun of the season. He drove in five and picked up another double.
The Devils are off on Monday, and back at it at 9 a.m on Tuesday with a nine-inning affair vs. Vassar.
