FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team continued its win streak, securing its fourth consecutive victory with a commanding 14-4 win over Allegheny College on Wednesday. The Devils improved to 4-1 on the season, led by standout performances from Emma Cockerel and Mieley Baran.
Fredonia State started strong and never looked back. Emma Cockerel was the star of the day, leading the charge with five goals, including two unassisted scores in the second quarter that helped the Devils take control of the game. Mieley Baran also delivered a strong effort, netting three goals and assisting on two others.
Jenna Slamka and Noelle Mendez each contributed two goals, while Kiera Young and Sydney Buchko found the back of the net once apiece. Buchko also dished out three assists.
Fredonia's defense was equally impressive on the night, limiting Allegheny to just four goals throughout the game. Goalkeeper Ashleigh Manns played a full 60 minutes in the net, making three saves and earning the win to bring her record to 4-1. On the opposing side, Allegheny split time between two goalies Macy Simons and Ella Ashton who combined for 16 saves.
The Devils now sets their sights on the Puerto Rico College Sports Tours Clasico, where they will face Worcester State University in Salinas, Puerto Rico. The matchup is set for 9:30 a.m.
