PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team dropped a 9-7 contest at Nazareth College on Wednesday. It was the Season Opener for the Blue Devils.
Emma Cockerel had three goals and
Noelle Mendez added a pair to pace the Blue Devil offense.
Nazareth scored first and would lead 5-1 early in the second quarter.
The Devils whittled away at the lead. Back-to-back goals by
Mieley Baran and Cockerel made it a 10-9 game with just over six minutes left to play. Nazareth added the game's last goal with 1:34 on the clock to seal the victory.
Cockerel added two assists.
Cailin Karalus,
Kiera Young, and
Audrey Brown all had goals for the Blue Devils.
Ashleigh Manns had six saves in goal.
Nazareth's Makenna Misiurewicz the the Golden Flyers with four goals.
The Devils are at Hilbert on Saturday.
