Mathieu Fournier scored late in the first period, and
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 38 saves as the Fredonia State men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at Morrisville. It was the freshman Fournier's team-leading third goal of the season as the Devils record now stands a 0-5-1. It was the SUNYAC opener for both teams.
Morrisville (1-2-1 / 0-0-1 SUNYAC) got a goal from Connor Santay midway through the second period to tie the game. Their netminder, Chad Lowe, was credited with 51 saves.
Fredonia State was 0-1 on the power play, and the Mustangs were 0-2. Assists on the Fournier goal went to
Antoine St. Onge and
Sam Chrenka.
The Devils will take on Cortland at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
