FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team moved to 2-0 as they cruised to an 88-48 victory over Hilbert College on Tuesday.
Payton Gilbert had 19 points,
Alexys Neckers had 17 points and seven assists, and
Grace Alexander went for 10 points.
Jakiera Stackhouse had a game-high seven rebounds and chipped in eight points.
The Hawks kept pace through the first quarter. Tied at 16 late in the frame, a free throw by
Jayssa Snelick and a basket by Neckers put Fredonia State up by three, 19-16 after the first.
Gilbert opened the second quarter scoring six-straight points as Fredonia State would expand the lead to 41-27 by halftime.
The third was all Fredonia State, outscoring the Hawks 21-9, taking a 26-point lead.
The Devils caused 31 turnovers, with Alexander and Neckers each snatching five steals. The Devils also controlled the boards, 39-22.
Nyema Blair had 10 points to lead Hilbert, now 0-2.
The Devils travel to Keuka College on Friday.
