FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team came out firing, dominating the first set 25-13, but could not hang on vs. a pesky New Paltz squad, falling three sets to two on Friday evening.
Donnilynn Sheldon led the offense with eight kills and three aces,
Kylie O'Brien added eight kills, and
Molly Cassidy had 17 assists.
Defensively,
Kailea Sullivan had 15 digs and
Sasha Zayatz had 14.Â
After the Devils dominated the first set, the two teams battled back and forth with New Paltz coming away with a 26-24 victory. After splitting the next two sets, New Paltz ended things with a 15-8 win in the third set.
The Hawks were led by Maria Weigand with 13 kills, Reagan Dybo with 10 kills, and Lola Konopa with five kills and five blocks.
The Devils wrap up the conference portion of their season Saturday at 1 p.m.
With Morrisville's loss to Plattsburgh, the Blue Devils clinched a post-season berth. The Devils will determine where they will be seeded pending the results around the SUNYAC tomorrow afternoon.Â
