FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's volleyball team made quick work of Canton, sweeping the Roos 3-0 on Friday evening. The Devils won the sets by scores of 25-11, 25-19, and 25-23.
Kylie O'Brien led the Devils with eight kills and
Bria Hunter had seven.
Olivia Boswell had 12 assists and
Molly Cassidy had 10 to direct the offense.
Donnilynn Sheldon had four blocks, and
Kailea Sullivan had 15 digs with
Maeve Musielak contributing 14 to lead the defense.
The Devils cruised to a 25-11 win in the first set. They jumped out to a 13-3 lead, then would go up 19-5 later on.
In the second set, Canton would lead 10-9 in the early going. The Devils would take five of the next six points to take the lead for good.
With Canton up 9-7 in the third set, Fredonia State scored 10 of the next 11 points. With the Devils leading by nine, 22-13, the Roos made a late push closing the gap to 23-21 before the Devils pulled away at the end.
The Devils improve to 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC. Canton falls to 8-15 and 1-4 in the conference.
The Devils take on Oswego on Saturday afternoon.
