FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Blue Devils showcased resilience on Friday night, rallying from a 13-point halftime deficit to claim a thrilling 90-82 victory over the Plattsburgh Cardinals in front of a lively home crowd.
Trailing 47-34 at the break, the Blue Devils erupted in the second half, outscoring the Cardinals 56-35. The comeback was fueled by balanced scoring, with four Fredonia State players reaching double figures.
Brandon Kulakowski anchored the Blue Devils with 16 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double.
Tyrese Fuller added 13 points and six boards, providing key contributions on both ends of the floor.
On the other side, Plattsburgh's Nate Pondexter Jr. lead all scorers with 23 points. Fredonia's second-half surge featured strong defensive pressure and efficient offense, as they attacked the basket and capitalized on turnovers. A key stretch midway through the half saw the Blue Devils go on a 12-2 run.
"Our guys showed great resilience and toughness tonight, especially in the second half," said Blue Devils head coach
Sean Smiley. "We knew we had to step up defensively in the second half, and the team executed our plan. It's always great to protect home court."
With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 1-3 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia State returns to action tomorrow at 3pm in Dods Hall when they play Potsdam.
