ERIE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State tennis team fell 4-3 at Penn State Behrend in a late-night match on Tuesday. Bernie Gens,
Sierra Allen, and Sophie Olson each won their singles matches to score a team point for the Devils. Behrend earned the doubles point by taking two of the three matches.
In No. 1 singles, Gens lost the first set, 6-1. She would step up to take the second set, 7-6, and then the tiebreaker, 10-4.
Sophie Olson took No. 5 singles, 6-2 and 6-2. Allen took the No. 6 singles, 6-1 and 6-4.
Gabby Farr put up a solid battle at No. 3 singles. She took the first set, 6-3, and lost the second, 6-4. In the tiebreaker, she came up short, 10-5.
In other matches,
Lucy Prevet dropped No. 2 singles, 6-2 and 6-0; and
Claire LeFevre dropped No. 4 singles, 6-2 and 6-1.
Allen and Olson were the only doubles winners, taking No. 3 with 6-3 score.
Gens/Prevet lost No. 1 doubles, 6-1; and Farr/LeFevre fell 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.
