FREDONIA, N.Y. -- After winning the first set, things looked good for the Devils, but they could not hold on, falling to the Geneseo Knights, 3-1, on Tuesday.
Kylie O'Brien led the Devils with 10 kills, and
Erin Callahan added seven kills and had team-highs with three aces and five blocks.
The Devils jumped out to an early lead, 10-4, en route to a first-set, 25-19 victory.
The second set was back-and-forth before the Knights came out on top, 25-21.
The Devils held a 20-17 lead late in the third set. Geneseo would score seven of the next eight points to take a 24-21 lead, before the teams traded points to give a 25-22 final in favor of the visitors.
The Knights took control early in the fourth set. They jumped out to an 8-0 lead. They appeared to be in control, 24-16, needing one more point to clinch the match, but the Devils scored five straight to make it interesting. Geneseo eventually won 25-21.
