Red Dragons take series opener

GOWANDA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team fell 6-1 to Oneonta on a game played at the Gowanda High School turf field on Saturday. With Oneonta clinging to a 2-1 lead, the Red Dragons scored four times in the final three innings to pull away.

The Devils' lone run came after Kyle Tedford doubled and Matt Wojcik singled to drive him in. Wojcik also added a double to finish with two of Fredonia State's four hits.

The story of the game was fifth-year senior Sean Liquori. He struck out 10 batters and did not let up a walk in a complete-game victory.

Joe Tobia went 4 1/3 innings for the Devils, giving up two runs in taking the loss for the Devils.

The two teams are back at it on Sunday with a Noon doubleheader played in Gowanda.
