NEW PALTZ, N.Y -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a 57-41 game to New Paltz on Friday.
Payton Gilbert had a game-high 15 points and added six rebounds.
Allie Wandell had 12 points and nine rebounds.
The New Paltz defense held the Devils to 29.5 percent shooting (18-61) from the floor, including 2-13 from three-point range.
The Hawks did not fare much better from the floor at 31.0 percent (18-58), but did connect on 11-29 threes (38 percent). Julia Sabatino had 15 points to pace New Paltz, and Sophia Bonnell added 14. The duo would hit seven of the team's three pointers.
New Paltz improves to 2-3. It was the first conference game for both teams.
The Devils (3-3) head to Oneonta on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip off.
