POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Leading 3-2 entering the third period, the Fredonia State hockey team surrendered a pair of goals to Potsdam in the third, falling 4-3, on Friday evening.
Max Klanow scored 12:41 into the frame to tie the game. The game winner game at 16:27 by Jack Loran. Loran would finish the night with two goals and an assist.
Both teams traded goals in the first period. Fredonia State's
Ryan Bailey got things going with a power play score 4:48 into the game. Potsdam tied it at 1-all with a minute-and-a-half left in the period when Loran found the net.
The teams traded goals in the second period as well. Fredonia State's
David Sudbrink scored halfway through, and Potsdam's Jakub Hall tied it a 2 apiece at the 14:44 mark.
Just 27 seconds later,
Dillon Schmidt put the Devils back on top with assists from
Ethan Pitzman and
Jack Schlifke. The period ended with the Devils up, 3-2, before the Bears came back in the third.
Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 16 saves and gave up four scores for Fredonia State. John Werber made 36 saves and gave up three goals for Potsdam.
The Devils had eight power play opportunities, converting once. Potsdam went 1-3 on power plays.
The Devils (0-3-0) will play Potsdam (2-1-0) again on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Neither game will count towards conference play, which begins next weekend at Cortland.
