CANTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State hockey team used the shutout goaltending of
Charles-Anthony Barbeau and four goals to down SUNY Canton 4-0 on Saturday.
Jake Murphy scored a pair of goals, and Jonny Malandruccolo had a pair of assists giving him four points in the last three games.
Ryan Bailey had a goal and an assist.
Bailey and Malandruccolo hooked up at 5:46 of the first period to put the Devils on the board.
Murphy scored Fredonia State's second goal of the afternoon, taking a seam pass from
Adam Hawkins and bursting down the right side of the ice before cutting back to the middle and beating Canton goaltender Kelson Hooper.
Xavier Fortin also assisted.
The Blue Devil's extended their lead to 3-0 midway through the second when Antione St. Onge scored on a wrap around attempt. His goal was assisted by Malandruccolo and Bailey.
Murphy capped the scoring in the third period on an empty netter with assists from
Brendan Dempsey and
Nolan Underwood.
Barbeau made 25 saves to earn the shutout. The Blue Devils were 0-2 on power plays and Canton went 0-1.
Kelson Hooper made 39 saves and gave up three goals for the Roos. Canton falls to 5-13-1.
The Devils improve to 4-11. They play host to Oswego this Friday, then Cortland on Saturday.
