FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team fell in three straight sets in its home opener to John Carroll University on Tuesday. The Blue streaks won 25-21, 25-12, 25-12.
The Devils gave John Carroll all they could handle in the first set. They led 19-18 before JCU scored the next three points to go up 21-19. Leading 23-21, Carroll would score the final two points for the victory.
The second set the Devils led 5-4 before the visitors went on a 14-2 run to take control of the set. The Devils led 4-2 in the early going in the third set. An ensuing 8-1 run would effectively secure the set and match for John Carroll.
Gabrielle Sordetto and
Kylie O'Brien led the Devils with 5 kills.
Kailea Sullivan tallied a pair of aces.
Sordetto also led the defense with 12 digs.
