Scores aplenty at Chatham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team found its scoring touch and then some in a 7-1 win over Chatham on Tuesday evening. Kaleb Steward and Brian Taylor both scored twice. Taylor added an assist, as did Jacob Gennaro

Steward got the scoring going in the ninth minute as Taylor tallied his first assist. Four minutes later, Kye Castelluccio made it a 2-0 contest.

Taylor and Steward added two more scores to double the lead. In the 41st minute, Jake Murray scored the Devils' fifth goal.

Chatham got on the board 4:09 into the second half when Azavier Coppin scored his third goal of the season for the Cougars.

Chance LaCroix scored at the 68-minute mark with an assist coming from Gennaro. Taylor capped the scoring in the closing seconds of the game.

"We were able to get the early lead on the road tonight with three goals in the first 18 minutes and four in the first 24 minutes," said head coach P.J. Gondek. "Additionally our forwards were able to capitalize which should give us confidence headed into the Blue Devil Classic starting Friday."

Tanner Stutzman made one save and was credited with the win in goal. Kyle Pezzulo played the final 21 minutes and did not see a shot on goal.

The men's and women's soccer teams will both participate in the Blue Devils Classic on Friday and Saturday. Matches will take place at the University Stadium and at the turf field.
