CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team won its final match of the Cortland Invitational on Saturday, a 3-2 victory over St. Lawrence. They had dropped the first match of the day, 3-0, to the University of Rochester.

Against St. Lawrence, the Devils took the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-23. The Saints took the next two, 25-17 and 25-22. St' Lawrence went up 8-4 in the final set before the Devils tied things at 9-9 following a kill by Gabrielle Sordetto. The Devils finished off the set with the final three points in a 15-11 win, the last point coming on a kill from Sordetto -- her 14th of the match.

Kylie O'Brien added 13 kills and Sasha Zayatz had six aces. Molly Cassidy had 31 assists.

Defensively,  Cayla Partsch five blocks and Sordetto four. Elora Sherman had 22 digs.

In the 3-0 loss to Rochester (25-18, 25-19, 25-19), Sordetto had 13 kills, Cassidy 20 assists, and Sordetto seven digs.

"I'm so proud of our team for their resiliency over the weekend," said head coach Geoff Braun. "We are a much better volleyball team right now than we were 48 hours ago. They deserve to have a win to show for their efforts over the last couple of weeks and especially over the weekend."

The Devils are now 1-2 on the season.
