MEADVILLE, PA. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team was defeated in three games against Alleghney College Friday. In games one and two, Fredonia State would lose 25-13 and would drop game three by a score of 26-24. "We were resilient and got better as the match went on," noted head coachÂ
Geoff Braun. "We successfully executed a few adjustments but ultimately Allegheny's offense was the difference."Â
Molly Cassidy would lead Fredonia State in assists with 18.
Elora Sherman would have a team high eight digs with
Kylie O'Brien adding six kills.Â
In game one the Devils would start out strong, scoring the games first three points but would later surrender 10 straight point to the Gators to put the game out of reach. In game two the Devils would battle hard to draw within two points, however Allegheny would turn up the offensive intensity and would score seven straight points and to win the game.
In game three, the Devils would take an 18-17 lead late in the game off of a big block by
Emma Foley and O'Brien. After the Gators recaptured the lead, the Devils would rattle off three straight points to tie the game up at 24. A kill from Alleghany's Elizabeth Luboldand and Emma Chambers would ice the game for the Gators.Â
Fredonia State returns to the court Saturday, September 16th with a match up against Hiram College at 11:00 AM and then Wilmington College at 3:00 PM in Meadvile, PA.Â
