5-goal outburst keeps Devils undefeated

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State mens soccer team built on its strong offensive start to the season with a 5-2 win over Pitt-Bradford on Friday evening. The win propels the Devils to a 3-0-3 start and marked the fourth time they have scored five or more goals in a game. Kaleb Steward scored twice to bring his season total to five goals, and Brian Taylor scored the game's first goal -- his team-leading sixth of the year.

The game was all Fredonia State as Taylor scored just over four minutes into the game. Steward and Andres Martinez both added a goal to make it a 3-0 lead at the half.

At 1:15 into the second half, Chance LaCroix scored his second goal of the season. Just over a minute later, Steward made it 5-0 as LaCroix helped with his second assist of the game.

Bradford did not give in, scoring twice -- in the 68th and 85th minutes.

The Devils used 12 players off the bench and two goalies. They will have a quick turnaround with a 1 p.m. game at Hilbert tomorrow.

Thomas McDonald played the first half in goal, facing two shots, and Kyle Pezzulo played the second half, surrendering two goals and making two saves.

Steward, Liam Winters, and Jacob Vallas also added assists. The Devils outshot the Panthers 34-8.
