Another offensive onslaught for the Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Brian Taylor scored the Blue Devils first goal just 51 seconds into the match, setting the tone for the Fredonia State men's soccer team in a 7-2 win over visiting St. Vincent College. Taylor would score again later in the game to bring his team-leading total to five goals this season.

Fifteen minutes later, the Devils took a 2-0 lead. Camron Walsh took the ball through traffic after a one-touch feed from Chance LaCroix.

Oziel Bonola-Soriano got the Bearcats on the board in the 20th minute when he collected a rebound and his shot bounced off the far post for the score to make it a 2-1 game.

The Devils would then go up 3-1. With just over eight minutes left in the first half, a St. Vincent defender passed the ball back to his goalie where the ball was mishandled, and Taylor tapped the loose ball in for an easy score.

The Bearcats immediately marched the ball up and were able to get a good look, but Devil netminder Thomas McDonald made a diving stop. The Devils kept up the pressure and Liam Winters pounded in the Devils' fourth goal, coming in the 39th minute.

McDonald would making a jumping stab at another quality shot to preserve the lead. The Devils would then tally one more score before the end of the half when Andres Martinez connected for his first score of the year.

St. Vincent came up with the first goal of the second half. Ethan Bridges fired a shot towards the goal that was deflected by a Fredonia State defender into the net to make it a 5-2 game.

The Devils would seal the deal with two more goals to give the final. Winters scored his second of the game, and Lee Hartke scored his second of the year.

Fredonia State remained undefeated, improving to 2-0-3. It was the second time this season that the team scored seven goals.

"It was nice to once again get in the win column after two ties this weekend," said head coach P.J. Gondek. "We were able to get a number of guys on the scoresheet but we also managed to make it interesting by giving away two goals. Credit to St. Vincent as they kept coming at us."

The Bearcats fall to 2-3.

McDonald made two saves in goal, and Kyle Pezzulo made one. For St. Vincent, Kameron Rock made seven saves against five goals in the first half. Chrystiaan Sexton made fives saves, giving up two scores in the second half.
