ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team started their 2023 season campaign on the road against Ithaca College. The game would end in draw with the final score reading 0-0.
Both teams would struggle early in the first half to establish an offensive rhythm.  Fredonia State would go into the half registering three shots with one shot on goal.
To start the second, Fredonia State would lock in defensively with the play of the game coming from junior goalkeeper 
Tanner Stutzman. Stutzman would have an impressive save off a penalty kick from Ithaca's Reefe Harrison at the 49:41 mark in the second half to keep the game scoreless. 
The Devils would have three shots on goal in the second half but could not manage to find the back of the net.

Frederick Butler would lead the Devils with two shots on goal each. Stutzman would finish the night with five saves for Fredonia State as well. 
"We came out very strong today on Ithaca's home field. I thought we deserved a goal but it didn't come.In the second half, Ithaca came at us with early pressure. We bent but we never broke,this is a result that we can build on, but we can't be satisfied with not scoring on Tuesday against Chatham," noted head coach P.J.Gondek when asked about his teams performance today.
The Devils will stay on the road and will play next on Tuesday, September 5
th as they take on Chatham University in non conference matchup with the game scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
